Sandipan Bollywood Awards 2007
Continuing with the tradition of Sandipan Bollywood Awards from 2006, here we go into our new year.
Disclaimer: Be prepared for a typical Sandipan awards, for there will be plenty of partialities. After all even Oscar and filmfare is not without favoritism. And a close second award will be awarded in some cases. There will be a special category of Razzie awards as well. This year it will be more towards anti feeling towards some than favoritism towards a few. Also, I have not seen many movies this year
Here we go. Let me start with the BollyRazzie awards.
Worst Film: Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. From songs to style to story, everything was pathetic. RGV ki aag doesn’t get this award for 2 starcasts: Urmila and Sushmita
Worst Actor: John Abraham, in Goal.
Worst Actress: Konkona Sen for her various movies. She is terribly overacting nowadays.
Anyway now I come to The mainstream awards.
Best Story: Possibly Taare Zameen Par.(Haven't seen the movie yet though)
Best Song: Sajna di wari wari from Honeymoon travels Pvt Ltd (For the awesome horn effect in the background) and "Om Shanti Om" song with all stars (Esp Juhi and that famous dance step by Rani)
Best Music Director: A.R. Rahman , “Guru”. who else?
Best Singer(Male) : Shankar Mahadevan, Maa from Taare Zameen Par.
Best Singer (Female): Shreya Ghoshal, Barson re megha megha
Best television interview: As an Obituary and posthumous award to Benazir Bhutto in Devil's Advocate especially the way she pronounces "Pakstan" with missing 'i'. The second one goes to Rani in the Madhuri Dikshit KWK interview.
Best Item Song: Mayya Mayya Mallika Sherawat
Lets move on to the main awards now.
Best Comedian: Tabu, Amitabh and Sweeni Khara in Cheeni Kum.(Wittiest movie)
Best Supporting Actor: Mithun Chakrabarty in Guru. Not very sure about this though. Open to better suggestions
Best Supporting Actress: Sweeni Khara for Cheeni Kum.
Best Villain: Shilpa Shukla as Bindiya Nayak in Chak De
Best Newcomer (male) : Prashant Raj Sachdev in RGV ki aag.(Award given because of lack of better choice)
Best Newcomer (Female) : Sagarika Ghatge (Preeti Sabarwal) in Chak De India.(I hate the eggface Deepika)
Best Actor: Shahrukh Khan for Chak De
Best Actress: I don’t want to give this to Cat Eye Kareena (has animosity with Bipasha and dumped Shahid) and neither to Aishwarya (I hate the family of Pati, Patni, Woh(Amar Singh), Beta and Bahu). So the award goes to Soha Ali Khan in 'Khoya Khoya Chaand' for so much looking like her mom.
Best Director: Aamir Khan for 'Taare Zameen Par'
Best Film: Chak De

Really bad choices. Few are decent but can't agree with few at all:
Worst Film: Nothing can be worse than RGV ki Aag.
Best Music Director: I like AR but this time it has to be Vishal Shekhar for OSO or Pritam for Metro
Best new comer is undoubtedly Neil Mukesh for Johny Gaddar and how could you think of RGV ki Aag for any award other than worst movie.
Agree or Don't Kareena was really superb in JWM.
Aamir khan was poor as a director. It was script, music and performances that makes the movie so good.
I liked your choices of best interview and Best Villain.
One more suggestion, you can add Best dance award and give it to Urmila for Mahebooba.
I didn't like OSO songs at all esp Dard-e- Disco. I agree with Neil Mukesh though. Will update that shortly.
worst actress: bipasha basu (for all her movies till date)
Well dnt assue that best actor is unanimous shahrukh--chak de India was gr88 because of the entire star cast and story

I have seen guru, HTPL, bheja fry, tara rum pum, salaam e ishq, jiah khan movie, priety zinta-abhishek-lara movie and a bunch of them.
TZP could not create the good vibes like chak de did, so i stand by chak de
ohh...
can you please IMDB rankings for Chak De and Tare Zamin Par... ?
And also check which is the only hindi movie which has made into top 250 must watch movie of the universe ?
If you dont know what vibe TZP has created then ask ur parents to see the movie once. I am sure they will watch it for multiple times.
well awards are awards and shall always be opinionated..anyways quite agree on few of them but beg to differ on a lot of them..
cases in the point are:-
with rakhi sawant debuting in 'buddha mar gaya' i think u r being a tad too harsh on konkona for the worst actress award..same goes for buddha mar gaya..it HAS to be the worst film in like ages..
Agree totally on Guru and rahman..have u checked out teh 'shauk hai' number?..out of teh world it is..it tops my list of songs this year..

and regarding the comparision between CDI and TZP..
dude common, compare CDI with any sports movie hollywood creates its not even B grade..
my $0.02..
CDI India is a HIT..no two thoughts on it.
Many People(like the author here) loved it..true again..
but for me, CDI represents EXACTLY what is wrong with our film industry today
When i see people branding CDI as a ‘Cult’ movie it hurts..if CDI is cult, then my understaning of the term ‘cult’ is wrong
When i see people praising CDI as a ‘Well Researched’ film it hurts..
as using terms like ‘trap, ‘push’, ’shot’, ‘man to man marking’ cannot go as good research.
It hurts presicesley because genuninely researched movies like ‘Sehar’ get lost in the crowd.
coming to cliches and faults in CDI..there were many
1. SRK declraing at the very begining that ‘mujhe yahi team chahiye WC jitane ke liye’..and u know that come wat may..india is going to win
2. SRK’s dialgoue that ‘Hockey main chakke nahi hote’ ..when i heard it for the first time i thought..OMG..this cant be true..i mean, this is so B Gradish..
3. The whole hooplah about Man to Man marking as if only that team ( spain or whichever team it was) knew it and only one player from our team knew how to tackle it.
4. The ego problem between komal and pretty..why was the coach waiting till the final to sort it out..as if he knew all along that inspite of that problem..india would reach the finals..
5. What took the cake was chants of ‘kabir khan..bharat ki shaan’ at then end..that was too much..in a country like india..we may win the world cup/olympics or whatever..let alone chanting the name of the coach..hardly anyone knows the name of the coach..a couple of players only are known faces
I can go on and on, but as i said this is my personal opinion and unlike me..many people loved the movie, and i respect their views as well.
I havent yet started on how SRK played Kabir khan..his stubble, Ray ban’s and speeches..as that would be a blog in itself..
but if we watch CDI just as a sports film also, it falls way way behind Hollywood B grade stuff like ‘wimbledon’, ‘goal’etc ..let alone the good sports movies
and coming to TZP..its sicere, its honest and it is NOT copied..totally original :)

wo wo!! That was as good as a blog. Really appreciate your comments about CDI. But i based my decisio on the general perception what the jury's will do is to even out prizes between these 2 like last year with RDB and LRMB. The prejudice towards CDI comes from the fact that
a) I spent 10$ for CDI.
b) I like they way people like SRK and aamir. People like aamir for being so different in each movie and people like SRK for being so same in all his movies. If a person has the charisma to make people happy doing same thing over and over again, that IS something.
Aamir can never achieve the superstar status that SRK has got (in defense of aamir, he doesn't want, he doesn't care). And this is for teh people who appreciate the song and dance in hindo movies and don't expect indian movies to become hollywoodish with will smith and/or aliens/creatures in it.
Seriously SRK was good in Chak De, but there is no way you can compare that to TZP. TZP is a movie that really makes you feel a lot of emotions and teaches you a lot, it is a better film, but CDI will just win the awards because it was SRK. But I still admit it was a good performance, because it actually was different from others, but it was not as good as everyone said. I felt that the Sattar Minute speech was a little overacted(actually only like 2 lines but they ruined the mood 4 me), when aamir's speeches in TZP were more well rendered.
To tell the truth I think Abhishek should have one best actor in Guru, but everyone was overwhelmed my SRK's performance in CZP, when they hardly recognize other performances in sports movies.
Sandipan you said that TZP did not create good vibes, but please watch it again(I'm requesting you seriously) because I don't think it matters whether or not it creates vibes or not because it was such a beatiful movie that box office makes no difference to such a movie, and I myself wasn't amazed by TZP the 1st time i saw it but now its my favorite movie of 2007.
Where as Guru, many people won't understand why I compare Abhishek Bachan to SRK's Chak De(I know SRK is better than Abhishek), but I felt the Guru performance was really powerful and well done and I felt his acting was better than SRK this time(not as an overall actor).
