His name is Khan, and he is a torturer

Karan Johar has done a great job of bribing a lot of people. Barkha Dutt and Shahrukh may have an interview again that things were not a publicity stunt and it may or may not be true, but surely how can sane people say that this movie was good. Nikhat Kazmi, Jitesh Plllai and even Rajeev Masand. Especially Rajeev has disappointed me. I never like his reviews but that is because they are too negative. How can he give this movie 3.5 stars?

Karan Jhar even roped in celebrities like Priety Zinta, Hrithik Roshan to say that the movie was good. God forgive their lies.

Technically speaking most of the things about this movie were good (acting, situational songs, camera work, clothes) but the most crucial things were not even bad. They were worst: The story and the direction and the man responsible is noone other than Karan Johar.

There is a similarity between Karan Johar and Bipasha Basu. Off movies both are so good. Especially both are very good in TV interviews. But as soon as they get into movies, they totally suck big time. It's their TV presence that makes me watch their movies every time and needless to say, except Bipasha's beedi song and Karan Johar's KKHH, they have not only done anything good, but they have consistently done bad.

And what is with Karan Johar and those nationalist songs? In K3G, Kajol starts singing Janaganamana out of the blue and here the same with We Shall overcome at the Church. He should seriously switch his profession to Costume Design and Production. Tarun Mansukhani and Ayan Mukherjee had much better movies than his.

Very good read. As usual some comments:
* People watch movies for various reasons. I for example gave up on Indian movies long ago since they are not my type. Someone once pointed out that not all movies are taken for audiences like me. Hence the contradictions between box-office and critique successes. Maybe this movie, IMHO, like many Indian movies tends to be strong on what people want - star power, situations, evoking a specific emotion, a source of empathy etc. and doesn't care about the storyline. I haven't/don't plan to watch the movie - hence I could be totally wrong.

* I am so elated by your comment on Bipasha Basu. That too, from a die hard fan who watched Bachna -.-.- movie for her.

* I never read much reviews of movies either - I tend to read the plot and decide for myself if I'd like it. So, again, I might be wrong. I guess reviewers are human beings too and are entitled a level of prejudice. That prejudice could be negated by publishing a list of priorities that they expect in a movie and precisely why they are giving that rating.

Well, I beg to differ on this.. I am not getting in the details as to why there was a song in the church or things like that but essentially the message in the film.

I think this was one of the best message movies regarding terrorism. The fact that it makes the world aware of the good things about the religion and brings out a different point of view for the believers , makes it a decent film. Think about the last ones you have seen. Fanaa, Kurbaan, New York.. Don’t you think this had a lot more positive message that the others.

I agree Shah Rukh was bad.. There were times when he forgot he had the syndrome and acted the Shah Rukh style.. or there were Karan Johar moments..and especially the end was too predictable with all clapping :P I won’t say it’s a great movie but definitely a brilliant attempt to handle a sensitive topic.

Shondy, I think the title of your post " he is a torture" is an exaggeration.... The movie I agree was not upto the expectation but was certainly not a torture also.... It was somewhere midway... Neither could create a lasting impression nor let us feel that we have wasted out time, energy and money by watching it.... The massive marketing of the movie was the major culprit for this general "disappointed" feeling of the audience.... All these publicity made us anticipate something earth shaking from the movie....
Shahrukh and kajol were gud in their parts.... Story was hopeless... cudnt see any logic in it nor any message being passed across, except maybe how to pronounce "khan"!!!!!!!!
But compositions are beautiful... Its a treat to watch kajol after a long period of time... There were no dance number (thankfully!!!!)....
